Colic Team Guidelines

FALL 2008 SCHEDULES COMING SOON!!!!

Colic Team is a wonderful opportunity to get more involved with Equine medicine here at the university. As you become more familiar with the clinic and the clinicians become more familiar with you, you may be asked to help out as well. It is a great learning experience that we hope you will get involved with. For more details keep reading.

We have 8 teams of approximately 6 people each. Colic Teams will be organized for 8 weeks and each team will be assigned to 1 night per week. If you are called you can meet in Ward 2 with the night staff.

Please make every attempt to be available the nights that your team is on call. The night interns and clinicians really appreciate the help. It makes a good impression for you as well as the ISCAAEP.

If you would like to come in any night you are welcome to do so. ICU shifts last from 6pm to midnight and midnight to 6am. You can come anytime during those hours to help out the 4th year students with hourly ICU treatments. ICU students are usually on the red couches or in Ward 2.

Please be sure to bring clean scrubs to change into in case a horse goes to surgery. Other helpful things to bring if you have them: stethoscope, digital thermometer, watch, vet med nametag, pen, sharpie, bandage and/or suture scissors.

If you have any questions contact Jessica Haydel. Thanks and have fun!
