The Computing Services (CS) staff provides strategic direction for the College’s core infrastructure services in support of computing, networking, and application development for over 700 computers and servers, including support for student computer labs. The Director meets with the Information Management Committee to encourage discussion and education regarding computer issues and policies. CS staff members serve as liaisons to the staff and management of Campus Information Technologies and Educational Services and Administrative Information Technology Services. The Director participates in the IT Alliance and the Network Upgrade Technical Advisory Group. Specifically, the CS scope encompasses system administration and Oracle database support for hospital/diagnostic information servers, limited support for VetStar and full support for VADDS for the operations of the Teaching Hospital and Diagnostic Laboratory, application development in administrative databases, web programming, system administration including the network operating systems, e-mail, shared file space and printing, application servers, network design and maintenance, data security, audiovisual design and support and videoconferencing. PC desktop support is provided for College administration, the Diagnostic Laboratory and the academic departments of Pathobiology and Veterinary Biosciences. http://www.cvm.uiuc.edu/net/
