Accreditation
The accrediting body for Colleges of Veterinary Medicine in the United States is the Council on Education (COE) of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). The most recent site visit by the COE at the University of Illinois was in the spring of 2006, after which the College again was afforded “full accreditation.” The next scheduled site visit to the University of Illinois is in 2013.
The COE requires that all accredited Colleges of Veterinary Medicine publish their average pass rate for the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE). The AVMA standard for NAVLE pass rates is 80% (the percentage of each senior class taking the examination in November-December and March-April of the final year of veterinary school). The Illinois average pass rate for each year that the NAVLE has been administered is listed below:

Other outcomes assessments routinely demonstrate that Illinois students are prepared and fully competent for the practice of veterinary medicine upon graduation. The College is in the process of summarizing the last 10 years’ worth of outcomes assessments of our students and graduates as part of a campus-wide initiative preparing for the 2009 accreditation visit of the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
