Welcome Prospective Students
The College of Veterinary Medicine accepted its first class in 1948. It is located on the campus of the state’s flagship public university, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, about midway between Chicago, Ill., Indianapolis, Ind., and St. Louis, Mo.
The centerpiece of our College is the four-year professional Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree program. These graduates are in demand, and that demand is growing as society recognizes the importance and versatility of this credential, especially in industry and government positions rel
ated to biomedical research and public health.
We presently enroll 120 first-year veterinary students each fall. Combined degree programs lead to DVM and master’s in public health degrees for students seeking careers in public health epidemiology and disease control as well as to DVM and PhD degrees for students interested in research careers.
