For the discussion of the ecology
of particular types of infectious agents on Feb. 7, you will analyze one of
the
following types of agents, using diseases of your choice as examples:
1) Viruses
2) Bacteria
3) Protozoa
4) Helminths
Each group (of 2 or 3) will give a 10 minute presentation/discussion on Tuesday, Feb. 7
Topics to consider include:
1) The agent's niche in the ecosystem, its requirements, advantages and disadvantages
2) The infectious agent's point of view of infection and disease
3) The population level interaction between hosts and the agent
