Where are our CZR alumni now?

Here are just a few of our sucess stories... Abigail Mathewson, Class of 2008 and 2007 recipient of the Loren Lee Cluster Scholarship for academic achievement, was accepted to Illinois DVM/MPH dual degree program

Aya Iwai, Class of 2009, was the 2007 recipient of the Dr. Richard E. Dierks Veterinary Alumni Scholarship for academic achievement; the 2007 recipient of the Dr. Harry Reynolds Pathology Award for the highest GPA in general pathology; and the 2007 recipient of the Dr. Jesse Sampson Award for demonstrated scholarship, achievement and aptitude in physiology.

Luke Borst, CVM, Class of 2005, took first place in the research competition at the 2004 SAVMA Symposium in Knoxville, Tenn for a presentation on his three-year body of work on real-time polymerase chain reaction for leptospirosis; presented CZR Summer Training Program poster at Seventh Annual Conference on New & Re-Emerging Infectious Diseases, Urbana, Illinois (2004); 2004 recipient of the  Dr. J.E. Salsbury Scholarship for superior scholarship, initiative, perseverance, and leadership potential; presented at the 2004 American Society for Microbiology conference on his work involving genetic fingerprinting methods for use in differentiation and tracking of salmonella outbreaks and the evaluation of a modified live vaccine for equine streptococcus; took third place in the 2005 College of Veterinary Medicine Awards for Academic Excellence for the Class of 2005; recipient of the 2005 American College of Veterinary Radiology Award; recipient of the 2005 Merck Veterinary Manual Award, eligible to fourth-year students based on a minimum GPA of 3.75; is currently a graduate student in Pathobiology at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine; is currently a teaching associate in the Pathobiology at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine; 2006 recipient of the Dr. Walter E. Hoffmann and Dr. Ann L. Johnson Resident Teaching Excellence Award, which goes to a resident, intern, or graduate student in training at the College for an AVMA-recognized specialty board; 2007 recipient of the Dr. Ted and Mrs. Carroll Valli Award for an outstanding veterinary student concurrently pursuing a DVM/PhD or a PhD candidate already holding a DVM.

Mary Lee, Class of 2008, was accepted into  2006 Dodge Summer Training Program the summer after her completion of the CZR Summer Training Progra and was the 2007 recipient of the Lisa Coole Memorial Scholarship for students demonstrating exceptional community service for animals or humans.
