Dog Obedience Demo

Obedient dogs can make everyone’s life more enjoyable!

Thousands of pets are surrendered to shelters and later put to death simply because of behavior problems. With proper training, many pets’ lives can be saved. Training your dog is also a great way to bond with them.

Learning different training methods and how to interpret your dog’s behavior is important.

  • Some dogs misbehave because they do not know what kind of behavior you are looking for.
  • Being able to predict your dog’s behavior is much more important than training "tricks."
  • Dogs have a very different set of body signals. Understanding dogs’ body language can help you know if a dog is feeling happy, afraid, or aggressive and can help keep you and your dog safe.

At our Open House demonstration learn how to teach your dog basic commands such as sit, down and stay. Also learn about teaching more advanced tricks and clicker training.

Clicker training is a way to use positive reinforcement when your dog does something good. The sound of the "click" is a neutral sound that the dog learns to associate with the coming of a treat. Clicker training is a good way to target precise behaviors and shape them into a complicated trick, such as "put your toys away."

Demonstrations will be run throughout the day. We’ll have dogs to visit with, too!
