Police Dog Demo
Some dogs are not just merely the family pet. There are many classifications of working dogs, and they come in all sizes and breeds.
Some help aid the hearing or seeing impaired, while others help with the jobs on the farm. Some are search and rescue dogs, and others are hard working police dogs.
Police dogs are used to track down criminals, sniff out illegal materials, search buildings, and do other jobs to assist their human officers. There are thousands of police dogs currently working to make our neighborhoods safer.
- The key attributes of a successful police dog are:
- intelligence,
- obedience,
- controlled aggression,
- strength,
- and sense of smell.
Most police dogs are male, and are frequently left unneutered so that they maintain their protective instincts. This aggression must be kept in check with thorough and rigorous training.
The demonstration will have K9 units from the surrounding police stations that will demonstrate the dogs at work. All the dogs are specially trained and are an integral part of the police force. Officers will show off their dogs’ amazing abilities and answer questions as well.
