Listed below are the current Personnel working on the Chagas
Project.
 |
Dr. Uriel Kitron
Dr. Uriel Kitron is the principal investigator at the
University of Illinois. Dr. Kitron and his lab compile
data from satellite imagery, field observations and experiments
and integrate them into a GIS and mathematical models
to elucidate the underlying epidemiological processes
of Chagas Disease. The lab also works to produce risk
maps and predictions to evaluate and prioritize control
efforts.

 |
Dr. Ricardo Gurlter
Dr. Ricardo Gurtler is the co-principal investigator
at the University of Buenos Aires. Dr. Gurtler and his
team lead field and laboratory studies to elucidate the
processes of reinfestation of houses and peridomestic
structures by triatomine bugs and T. cruzi in
northwestern Argentina. |
 |
Dr. Joel E. Cohen
Dr. Joel Cohen of Rockefeller University, NY is the co-investigator
in charge of the mathmatical modeling component of the
project. He is being assisted by Heinrich Zu Dohna, a
post-doctoral fellow dedicated to the project.
|
| |
Dr. Ellen M. Dotson
Dr. Ellen Dotson of teh Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention, Atlanta, GA oversees and directs training
of UBA personnel in molecular studies of the triatomine
bugs.
|

|
| |
Louisa R. Beck M.S.
Ms. Beck is a co-investigator with NASA Ames Research
Center. She provides expertise on GIS and Remote Sensing
technologies.
|
 |
Dr. Carla Cecere
Dr. Carla Cecere is a co-investigator from the University
of Buenos Aires. Dr. Cecere coordinates field studies
in the Amama area and the Cordoba experimental station.
|
| |
Dr. Heinrich Zu Dohna
Dr. Heinrich Zu Dohna is a mathematical modeller working
with Dr. Joel Cohen at the Rockefeller University.
|
 |
Gonzalo M.Vazquez-Prokopec
Gonzalo Vazquez-Prokopec is a graduate student, University
of Buenos Aires. He studies the spatial distribution of
triatomine bugs, and applies GIS and spatial analytical
techniques to study reinfestation processes.
