Symposium 70
EPIDEMIOLOGY OF CHAGAS DISEASE IN
NORTHERN ARGENTINA
Pasteur
Wednesday, November 10, 2004 8 AM – 9:50 PM
A comprehensive study of the eco-epidemiology of Chagas
disease in rural communities in Santiago del Estero Province,Argentina
includes geographic, molecular and morphometric studies
of triatomine bug populations, patterns of reinfestation
of domestic and peridomestic sites, and infection patterns
of bugs, dogs and humans. All these data are integrated
in a GIS and will be used to develop a spatially explicit
model of transmission dynamics.
