Residence Financial Support

Residents are paid from $21,750 to $23,250 in their first year depending on years of experience. They have a 67% appointment and must pay 33% of their medical insurance premiums but receive a tuition waiver (which is taxable). They can register for up to 3 graduate units per semester (1 1/2 units in the summer).

Graduate students can receive financial support in several ways.
1. From the research grants of VCM faculty
2. From NIH and similar research training fellowships
3. Scholarships from their own governments (foreign students)
4. Departmental funds
