How do I refer an emergency?
You can call the referral veterinarian phone line (217-333-5311) or just send it in with your workup information.
What if I have no veterinarian and my pet is sick?
You do not need to be referred by a veterinarian to have a case seen here. The ER is open 24/7 to receive cases and has the support of all of the specialty services to help diagnose difficult cases.
What constitutes an emergency?
We define an emergency as anything the owner thinks it is. In other words if the owner or the referring veterinarian think the animal should be seen we see it.

What if I am not sure it is an emergency?
We are here to take your phone calls 24/7. A doctor, veterinary technician or senior veterinary student answers the phones at night and on weekends to assist you with questions to help you to decide if your pet should be seen.
